Mauritian ArtistNATTY GONG

Natty Gong by his real name Benoit Girodeau is an artist from Pointe-aux-Sables, Mauritus. He is well known in the Indian Ocean and considered a part of the new generation of reggae-dancehall in Mauritius. He was inspired from an early age by Damian Marley, Capleton, Sizzla Kalonji and Anthony B, as well as the French Carribeean artists such as Yaniss Odua, Kaf Malbar and Raggasonic. He began getting into his music more seriously after meeting with sidekick Manna’C in 2010 with whom he started recording singles and making compilations. Since then Natty Gong has had the opportunity to open for several international artists performing in Mauritius.

Since 2017 he has been focussing full-time on his music since hitting his first million views on YouTube. His music continues to evolve as well as his clips that are becoming more and more artistic on his YouTube channel. 2018 was an eventful year when he had the opportunity to go on tour in the Seychelles to do the opening act of Ras Ricky, the little prince of reggae-dancehall in the Indian Ocean. In addition, he had the opportunity to perform twice in Paris, France as part of a Mauritian festival, to perform a concert in Brussels, Belgium as well as in Toronto, Canada. These concerts abroad have allowed him to evolve and return to Mauritius with even more insight and experience. He also went to Reunion Island where he returned with a featuring with Kaf Malbar (one of his inspirations) published on the channel DadaHouse.

In 2019 he released his first EP available on all legal streaming and download platforms compiling all his singles released with a video clip brought him to a European tour where he got the opportunity to perform in Lausanne and Geneva for the opening of Cali P in Switzerland, Strasbourg and Paris in France, Catania-Sicily in Italy, at the Mauritian Open Festival in London in front of an amazing crowd of 15,000 people which was one of his dream to be achieved as an artist since he started music to finally end up this tour with a showcase in Dublin, Ireland for his fans. He was also invited by Yaniss Odua in Thonon-les-Bains in France for a surprise appearance and a short freestyle on stage as a guest which will be one of the best memories during his career. Those 3 months has been an amazing experience as Natty Gong not only traveled whole Europe every week to perform in a different city and a different country but he also came back home with a freestyle dubplate video shot in a well-known studio in Geneva for Little Lion Sound owner of a very famous label record there called Evidence Music, a featuring done with the French artist Bazil with a music video shot in Paris, and a video clip shot in London of his second single from his debut official album that came out on 10th of October 2020.
